• Q.BO series (Q.BO Touch, Q.BO WiFi): The current residential line. Keypads use a 12-24V AC/DC universal backplate, but the communication protocol changed after 2019. A 2018 Q.BO Touch will not accept a 2023 replacement board without a firmware bridge we install in the field.
• THALIA series (THALIA P, THALIA A): The workhorse of Roswell’s 2005-2015 installations. THALIA keypads are weather-sealed better than most, but the membrane switches fail predictably after 8-12 years in Georgia humidity. We carry OEM membranes and the aftermarket equivalent from SEA; both carry our 365-day warranty.
• LITHOS series: Audio-only intercom stations, common on estate driveways off Azalea Drive and Woodstock Road. The LITHOS uses a two-wire bus that is not compatible with the Q.BO four-wire setup. We verify wire count before dispatching parts.

To identify your unit: open the keypad or intercom cover and photograph the white label on the main board. The part number starts with “BFT” followed by six digits. We ask for that photo during phone triage so Adrian can pull the correct replacement from stock before the van leaves our Roswell shop.

Signs Your BFT Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing

• Keypad accepts the code but the gate does not move. This usually means the keypad’s output relay has burned its contacts. The keypad lights up and beeps, so owners assume the gate motor is at fault. We test relay continuity with a multimeter at the control board to confirm before quoting.
• Intercom call button works, but voice is garbled or one-way only. The speaker element degrades in Roswell’s summer humidity, and condensation collects in the handset cradle on LITHOS units. We replace the speaker module and reseal the housing with silicone gaskets rated for Georgia’s UV exposure.

DIY or Call Us?

There is one safe check a homeowner can make: verify that the keypad or intercom has power at the gate post. Look for a small LED on the unit; if it’s dark, check your breaker and the low-voltage transformer inside the house or at the gate motor. Beyond that, BFT access hardware involves low-voltage wiring, but the real risk is misdiagnosis. We have seen Roswell homeowners replace three keypads before discovering the control board’s output relay was the actual failure.

The Q.BO WiFi units also require firmware pairing that is not documented in consumer manuals. Attempting a swap without the bridge module bricks the new unit’s communication protocol.
